If you are interested in hearing more on the topics discussed and debated during Warsaw Forum, we encourage you to participate in the World Internet Governance Forum. This global conference gathering thousands of Internet stakeholders every year will take place soon in Geneva (18-12.12.2017). Many of its workshops will touch upon the themes that we have some heated discussions about already in Warsaw. During a special session organized by the national and regional IGF initiatives we will have an chance to present conclusions from our recent Warsaw debates.

The Central European Internet Governance Forum, held on November 21st at the Copernicus Science Center, was an opportunity to tackle many issues related to the functioning of the network. The program included, among others, topics such as 5G networks, digital competence, FinTech technologies and free flow of data.

More than 200 participants - representatives of public administration, business, non-governmental and technical organizations and academia – discussed the most up-to-date issues related to legal, economic and social aspects of Internet’s development and functioning.

The program of the conference was created on a grass-roots level by all stakeholders. A record number of 12 organizations was invited to co-organize the Forum. The overwhelming part of the agenda - the whole block of parallel sessions – was proposed and prepared by them. It related to the topics that are currently the most important for all stakeholders in Poland and Central Europe.

Participants discussed about i.a. challenges and opportunities that free flow of data can bring Polish entrepreneurs, legal solutions for blocking websites, ideas for new rules of liability for Internet intermediaries for on-line content, digital competences needed by Poles to participate in digital economy, using open data by non-governmental organizations and business and about the future of collective management of copyright in the era of platforms and blockchaines.
